By the year 2050, we will have more plastics than fishes [by weight] in the sea, says a report launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in 2016. Statistics show that only 7%of our plastics can be recycled. The rest will either end up in landfills or in the sea as litter.
Can you image our beaches covered no longer by sand, but plastic waste? Sea beds no longer living with corals or sea life but plastic waste that will eventually degrade to become micro plastics that are to be eaten by fishes (whatever that is left) and ultimately consumed by us and our children?
