To build character with the right values and to inculcate awareness and empathy in individuals for the greater good of society, beyond personal achievements such as academic success, etc.
— Blossom World Society

Understanding our personality traits and those of other people enables us to better deal with people from diverse backgrounds so we can thrive in the face of different group dynamics.

“ It will be useful to my workforce as I can better understand my colleagues through the DISC personality. “ - Jing Ting
“Many parts/ knowledge shared is very helpful and can be applied to many areas in the future” - Arun
What does it take to organise an event? How do we go about doing it? Who are the people involved? Why is it done in this way? Where to look for the necessary resources?

During the sharing from Mr. Martin Tang, we get to understand more about the various roles during the planning phase of an event. Each role is responsible for certain areas during the stages of pre-event, actual event and post-event. No matter what our role is, someone else is observing and emulating our behaviour and we may unknowingly influence them through our decisions and actions. Hence, it is important to be a positive influencer.

“The dinner was quite surprising . It kind of caught us off guard but it was still fun.” - Azfar

Couldn’t agree more!

Homecook dinner prepared by… no other than the teams!

A person's self development involves growth and development of all aspects. Including, positive life skills to enable them to recognize and express one's feelings, give and receive feedback, pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses, set realistic and attainable goals to improve their strengths and overcome their weaknesses and employ problem-solving strategies in times of need. The 2 day camp involves a lot of teamwork.

With the points each team had obtained, they will crack their brains to prepare: an appetizer, one main dish, one side dish and a soup dish using the ingredients they can exchanged with their points.

Seriously, headache ah!

After the sharing by Mr. Martin on people’s DISC personality profile in the morning, the campers learnt what makes people tick and subsequently, how to increase the effectiveness of collaborations with people who work differently from us. The knowledge of DISC is put into good use when the campers work together to prepare today’s dinner.

Showing appreciation for one another

Showing appreciation for one another

To strengthen a diverse team, the best way to get started is to appreciate the gifts and strengths of everyone in the team.

People possess different perspectives and thus, reaching a consensus is not an easy task. Respect and trust is needed despite disagreement in viewpoints, and identifying and acknowledging the value that others bring to the table is crucial in creating synergies in a team. Observing and Appreciating the plus points of others allow individuals to not only embrace differences between one another, but leverage on them to form a team that is greater than the sum of its parts to accomplish wonders.

DAY 2

Protect the egg!

Despite the fact that the eggs of both teams were broken in the process, we still get to make steamed egg out of it. Talk about seeing endless possibilities within any situation, wanted or unwanted.

When concepts learnt are not applied in relevant situations, we are unable to reap the benefits to improve our lives.
Hence, Blossom World has provided platform for them to apply what they have learnt into good use with the guidance from Mr. Martin Tang, Youth Director of Blossom World Society.

“Actions always prove why words mean nothing. " message from Mr. Martin Tang.
Even though some element of risk is present when we take action, it will lead us a step further towards possible solutions. This will never happen if we do not take action because of a fear of failure.

It is exciting to work on a project with friends you just met during the camp. We hope that you can appreciate another and bring the best in each other during this journey, work together the way teams are supposed to do so, and make great things happen.

Looking forward to seeing you guys again, the proud graduates of the 2D1N Youth Leaders Development Camp and are now the BW Youth Leaders Batch 2 enriching life with values. Stay tuned for more details!

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
