Coastal Cleanup @ Pasir Ris Park

Yet another successful coastal cleanup organized by the youth leaders from BWS! On behalf of the team, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to each and every one of you attendees!

This is our second coastal cleanup conducted at Pasir Ris Park. This time round, we were accompanied with the staff of SSG Capital and Birlasoft! The 2 companies completed their Corporate Social Responsibilities duty and moreover, helped to alleviate the damage to the environment caused by litters. On top of that, we had environmentally-conscious students from River Valley High School and Informatics Academy that volunteered their precious time out of school to also help to clean the beaches.

What looks like a spillage of popcorn from first glance is actually heaps of Styrofoam pieces that have broken down from litters and trash, either thrown from users of the beach or washed up ashore. Styrofoam is one of the most detrimental materials to the environment because it will not biodegrade and it is buoyant, causing it to accumulate along coastlines and waterways, making it one of the main components of marine debris.

On another note, it is always nice to see people bond together through acts of kindness and service to the public. Here’s a short footage of our fellow environmental enthusiasts from River Valley High School (and friends)

Hope to see you guys again! Let’s continue to strive for the environment and work towards bettering our lives!
