Tiring but fruitful

Ever since I joined the organising team of Happy 3 Gen Fusion last December, I have been able to make many new friends as well as pick up new skills along the way. It was great to be able to work together with so many people and have a taste of the difficulties faced when organising an event from ground up.

During the course of this event, I learned that while it may have been tiring as well as stressful at times while planning for the event, it was all worth it when I saw how happy the seniors were while taking part in the event we had organised. This motivated me to carry on volunteering in the future and help others.

Additionally, I also learned that sometimes we need to be flexible and adapt to the situation. During our event, there were some things that did not go to plan or situations that we did not consider about which happened such as volunteers/seniors deciding not to show up as well as the grouping of seniors being messed up. However, we adapted to the situation and handled things one by one and were able to make the event carry on according to plan.

Of course, this event wouldn’t have went on so smoothly without the great teamwork of the organising committee. Special mention to my teammates in the committee, Zheng Feng, Yi Ling, Mandy, Jacintha, Cui Shan and Patricia who were all great company and enjoyable people to work with. I am also really grateful to BWS for organising the Leadership camp that got me into this in the first place. Without it I would not have had these new experiences and memories.

In the future, I would gladly take part in more of these activities and hopefully plan more of these.
