This will make the world a better place!

Camp Synopsis
In this fast-paced, digital world which values efficiency above all else, most people engage in the pursuit of material wealth. Regardless of age, most people are inseparable from their cellphones. Hence, there is a lack of personal interaction between people, resulting in a lack of understanding even among family members. In this generation, children are also burdened with lots of schoolwork and stress which cause them to be less adept at managing their overall personal lives. They tend to seek solace and comfort in the virtual world, cutting off interactions with the external world, resulting in a lot of negativity accumulating within their young minds.
This unique journey enables children to learn how to deal with their encounters in life, manage their own time, complete tasks systematically, speak properly and honestly to build trust with others. Special arrangements will be made to allow them to get in touch with their emotions, learn how to express them properly, learn to accept themselves for who they are and to understand the perspectives of others.
On the second day of the camp, not only can parents learn about the content of the Chinese Classics, they can also learn more about how their children think and feel, and in the process, learn how to improve their communication styles with them. Lastly, there is also a specially arranged segment to enable parents and children to narrow the gap between them and complete a totally unique and joyous learning journey together.
*It is compulsory for parents to participate on the 2nd day of the camp, 1.30pm – 5pm.
We are delighted to invite professional trainers and speakers with over 30 years of experience to the camp and they are:

2018 童心童愿假日营 ~ 爸妈爱我 我爱爸妈
Synopsis:
xiao 孝 (filial piety), which consists of reverent, sincere, self-sacrificing, and unconditional care for one’s parents while they are alive and after their death, is one of the basic values of Chinese traditional culture and the basis for the development of the moral person in Confucian ethics. Confucius describes filial piety and reiterates for its importance in creating a peaceful family and society in his book, Xiao Jing, also known as Classic of Xiao. The text was written in 4th-century BCE, showing how filial piety has been a part of Chinese values for a very long time.
However, what does it mean to be filial in the 21st century? How does being filial looked like in the present as compared to the past?
There is no doubt that the concept of filial piety has a significant influence over parenting and parent-child relationship. Parents are concerned that the children today do not practice acts of filial piety despite their constant teaching. Children, on the other hand, are questioning their obedience to parent’s wishes when they are not respected by their parents.
This 2-day camp will take on an active and critical learning approach for both parents and children to rethink what it means to be filial in the 21st century. Using different stimuli and a variety of drama strategies, we aim to inspire respectful, mutual and meaningful discussions with parents and children to explore and establish a shared understanding and practice of filial piety that are essential even today.
